Lots of upgrades with photos
« on: May 17, 2008, 08:53:21 PM »
My dad and I just got finished with all the new fiberglass work on my 1990 175.  We replaced all the wood with fiberglass.  Next project is to make a casting deck for the front of the boat.  Also looking to get a livewell seat to get rid of the cooler seat.  Let me know what you guys think.

New sides

New drawers and storage in the console

The bottom door is on a track kind of like a folding closet door.  We wanted to be able to have full access instead of having it open only half way or fold down from the top.

New CD Player

A view from the top with the gauge panel.  Also replaced the wood drink holders

My dad also custom made the switch panel

And last but not least an overview of the entire console.  We also made a new peice for under the steering wheel and the throttle control to cover up some holes that were left behind from the old switch panel.  I also posted a before photo under it

Yup, Very Nice.  :thumright:
I see the magnet on the CD door, how is the sliding drawer held closed?

Very nice.  The solution for the bottom opening is very ingenious.  Did you build all the parts yourselves, or are the drawers and doors off-the- shelf items?
I often wondered if there is a better way to access the inside of the console.  You have found it.

It was all custom done by my father.  Sometimes I wonder where and how he comes up with the ideas that he has.

Beautiful work.

Those teak pieces did not belong on a fishing boat.

Hey SnookinGood 175.

Any chance your Dad could let me know where he go those parts for the console door and the radio box and the glove box?.
I figured he put it together with items he bought, but the overall trim on the unit looks like he may have bought a single peice and put them together.
If he cant tell me where he got them, any chance he wants to make another one, I would buy it if he did.

Im redoing a 1989 striper 175 and need to get rid of the teak console hatch.
I see the step rails were replaced with starboard, I could do that, but trying to find that console setup he has gong there, it is going to be tuff.

any info he/you could give me would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Im in the keys, and the only place that looks like they have all that stuff is marine liquidators in Ft Pierce, but thats a 3.5 hour ride each way for me.

TAIL,  have to agree, the post is impressive.

But it is old. Most of those members haven't been on in a while. A long while.

The idea would be to take what is shown, and if you like the stainless piano hinges...they are easily sourced on the net.

No problems, only solutions.

But the four year ago solution probably won't be this spring's solution
