Man, look at the bullet on that thing!!  Makes today's bullet nose cones look bulky in comparison...but then today's gearcases are handling 350 HP...

Check out what it looks like with the race pipes installed - scroll the pics until you see the motor on the yellow boat:

It would be a cool piece for a man cave

Cool info on the 1250BP - and how they got the gearcase so small - 3 driveshafts!

Here's the gear case - they used very small gears to get that narrow shape - but had to use 3 sets to withstand the torque:

You're not far off Bob... I briefly had my hands around this engines younger brother a 1973 "Twister" that cranked 240 hp. Inline 6, 6 Weber carbs (6 carb intake!) Alcohol burner, 10,000 rpm. This was not your daddys typical Merc. It even had a 1 piece cowl which you never saw on an I6 merc. It had a burned piston and the guy didn't know what he had. I tried repeatably to buy it but he was going to "rebuild it" himself (right!). He tore it apart and quickly realized he had no idea what he was doing. He boxed it up and through it way years later! Can you say DUMBASS!
