Looking for a replacement bilge/baitbox pump
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:11:26 AM »
I must replace the pump that is under the center console on my 80's 17ft.  It is large, black, heavy, and frozen solid.  I tried an off the shelf plastic 750 and a 1000 pump, but neither will pull water up all the way from the transom.  I think the new pumps are designed to be mounted in the bilge below the water line so they are always primed.  Does anyone know a pump that will work as a replacement under the center console above the water line?  Or does anyone have an original they are not using that works that I can purchase?  I'm trying to keep from having to run new hoses from the center console to the stern bilge for a plastic pump.  Yes - I appear to be a bit lazy, but at 70 it's hard for me to contort like you young guys!  Thanks!

This is what I have installed in my osprey, it is rated for continous duty so it can be used as a livewell pump or washdown pump.  Lots of pressure, and probably very close to what you currently have installed in the console now.  It has a 6 foot dry prime capability, so it won't have a problem pulling a prime when dry.  Now, this is not a Bilge Pump... You should already have one of those installed in your bilge area? correct?  This is just one website, you may be able to search and find one cheaper, just remember, if you get a "combo" wash down/livewell pump, make sure it is continous duty rated.
