Rat boat reupholster job

I'm sure a few of you remember the Sea Ray jet boat project I started a few months back.  AKA the "Rat Boat"  Well, I spent the last week and a half reupholstering the interior myself.  I learned quite a bit in the process which is the main idea of such an endeavor.  I'm very happy with the results.  Here's a few pics along with a link to the full album:

I lucked out on the colors..  I used Capitano marine vinyl which I believe is what Sea Ray used.   I had a sample card but what was left of the original interior was badly faded. There are seven whites to choose from but only one yellow.  I could not find a purple welting thru my usual fabric suppliers.  I lucked out and scored a surplus roll of Sea Ray stuff from great lakes skipper.  Most of the original backing boards were broken.  I think I was able to reuse only three of them.  The rest I had to cut out of some 1/4" Starboard I had left over.  I used marine foam that I had to carve into shape using an electric carving knife.  Of course it was cold the last few nights so I had to use a hair dryer to heat up the vinyl so it would stretch right in the corners.

Nope canvas and seat cushions are not a deal breaker for me Marc.   At work I have a 60' long cutting table and all sorts of sewing machines.  We mainly build tents and the occasional awning  but I would easily start doing custom canvas work.  In fact it is something I have toyed with on and off over the years.

I'm no upholstery guy but...

That must be one hell of a stapler to penetrate the star board backing or do they pierce it as easily as wood???

Wing, mind if I refer some of my customers to you?  Mainly bolsters and seat cushions, backrests, that sort of thing.  Have access to a good foam supplier?

It didn't even seem to care... it shot them right into the starboard just as easy as wood...  in fact I had to be careful with the pressure since it could go into it too deep and protrude on the other side.

That would be fine Bob.  As long as they don't need them ASAP since it would be kind of a side thing.  Yup I can get any type of foam I need even the expensive dry easy stuff.
