What kind of Marine Stereo do you have?

Just out of curiousity, what kind of Marine Stereo do you have in your rig? I used to have a Standard Horizon cassette am/fm along with the Standard Horizon 6" speakers that I put in the sides of the console. ;
I just got a JBL, CD and a wired remote and the Standard speakers are still good after all the spray the boat has taken over the 7-8 or so years I've had them in and with all the washings I've subjected them too, they still sound great.
I'd like to put in another two speakers but don't have a convenient place to put them as I don't have any easy way to run any wire around the perimiter of this boat as I have two free outputs on the stereo and of course an amp and another set of 6X9's would be nice for that sweet sound on the water.
I know, I know, some of you may chime in with the "Why have anything but the sweet sound of Mo' Nature?" So I'll be sure you won't hear any "Southern-Cross," or "Cool-Change," or "Take the Long Way Home" coming from my boat, I'm just curious is all.

Too each his own but I feel that having a stereo would just be another thing that you have to wire and perform maintenance on.

Good you asked your question. I just heard Jensen Marine has gone under - out of biz - try to get a warranty covered... Expect to see sellers discounting Jensen marine equipment over the next few months! I think I would either stay away or get one of those "full replacement" warranties.
Just a heads up.

Interesting that Jensen has gone out, I see that both West and Boaters World carries all their stuff.
The shower radio is a good idea too, to me, music just sounds so much better on the water, of course, silence or the sounds of nature are fine, but music certainly helps.
I'm waiting to get my boat back to install the JBL unit I got along with the wired remote which I'll have to sink into my dash/console somewhere, it isn't a big deal, just have to put a hole somewhere.

i had my boat for 4 years before i finally put my jenson on, and now i just couldn't do w/ out it. My 1st one lasted 7 seasons, put in a new one last may. Crank tunes the way out to fish, music or ball game, or cds while fishing, not to mention the "get in the mood at sunrise" tunes. But in my opinion, none of us should be spending hundreds or thousands on stereo's that for the most part get a ton of exposure to the elements and salt water. Jensen has done its part for me w/ some damn good times. If i had a 53 viking, that may be a different story....

OK - here's the latest update on Jensen Marine as I understand it. Jensen Marine (along with the other Audiovox line) has been taken over by ASA Electronics. So it looks like Jensen Marine will remain around a while. I was surprised when my buddy in the electronics biz told me of Jensen Marine's demise, but apparently it was only a temporary thing...
BTW - I think ASA was a Jensen distributor in the midwest back 10 or so years ago, then winds up owning the parent company! Pretty neat trick!
