245 Osprey Raw Water and Fresh Water
« on: December 14, 2011, 12:23:19 PM »
I have a 1997 245 Osprey.  All of you have helped a great deal on helping me get my water problems and electrical problems resolved and operational.  However, I still have one issue I can't seem to sort out.  The boat has a freshwater tank with the starboard fill.  It also has the raw water through hull with the pump, valves and connections at the transom.  What I can't figure out is how does the fresh water system work or what it works with.

When I switch on the live well pump switch, it pumps the water into the live well and, if I turn the valve, it will pump raw water through the hose bid connection next to the valve.  But I do not have a freshwater switch on the console or not one that is labeled as such.   Neither have I found another pump that would be connected to the fresh water tank.

There is a sink sprayer type hose located in the through transom boarding but I can't seem to find where it goes to.

If any of you could tell me where to look for the pump, what switch is suppose to power the freshwater washdown (since there are no sinks on a 245 Osprey) or any other information, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Pete can answer with details, BC he has the TM model that came with the FW washdown, but the pump should be located close to the FW tank which is in the large storage compartment (Hatian Hatch) in front of your Center Console FWD seat.  Look down in there and you'll see the tank, the pump should be close by.  As far as the electrical, it should be on the switch panel, probably a bad ground or burned up pump that's why you think none of the switches do anything, it may be on your "accessory" switch.  Some Electrical TS is in order.

Thanks guys for the continued support and great answers.  Found the pump now just have to figure out which wire it is and what switch it goes to so I can TS the power or the pump.

I do have a question about the stern fish well.  I cut the hole in the back of the tank and installed the pump and got all that working as all of you recommended but even with the strainer I feel certain the pump will not last long because all the junk that will propably make it through the strainer.

Someone had advised to put a pump in that grinds up everything as it pumps it out so I picked up one of them to replace the other pump when it goes out.  This pump, instead of mounting using the intake pipe has the four holes that mount it.  My question is where is the best place to mount this pump where screws will not come through the fiberglass?

Maybe glue a piece of plywood with thickened epoxy and coat with the epoxy so water can't get to it. This is what I did with my livewell pickup. I used the ply since I already had it but you could use any product that would accept gluing and screws.

you are talking about a macerator pump, try to mount it the same way the livewell/washdown pump is mounted, somewhere on the inside transom wall out of the bilge, some pics would help :salut:
