'Twas a classic. A great song.

But controversial in that era. The lyrics, although muddled and hidden...were sexual in nature. Sexual in nature was not good in nature back then.

The go-go boots though... they were hot

Lip-sync from hell there - no one was in sync.  Like watching a japanese movie.

One of the great Urban Myths of our generation. I remember passing around the x-rated version in Junior High.

Louie-Louie was actually the subject of a major obscenity hearing.  But the judge ruled the lyrics were slurred and not perceptable, so the song was allowed to continue to be played on the radio.

It seems everyone has their own version of the lyrics, like some other songs:

CCR's "There's a Bad Moon on the Rise" vs. "There's a bathroom on the right"

Brooks & Dunn's "My Maria" vs. "Gonorrhea"

And, of course, Blue Oyster Cult's:  "Don't Fear the Reaper" vs. "Don't Fear the Reefer" vs. "Don't Feel the Reefer"

And many more...
