Haha.  Gotta love waking the neighbors up!  I started mine up at 6:30am one day before going fishing to check & see that my repair fixed the engine.  Everyone who lives around me was so happy with me that day...

Plus, running it out of the water reminds me of how well water muffles the sound of the exhaust.

Ahh, the neighbors don't mind.  The guy behind me grew up on the water in Miami, my other neighbor cut his boating teeth on the Alafia River, S. Tampa, hell, boats are just a way of life in FL...

yep.  Even out here in the middle of nowhere you will not go more than a day or two without hearing an outboard running on the hose.  The sound carries well up and down this valley.  Of course, I only live 5 miles from the 2nd largest river delta in the country.

Bob, we only have one boat with a nose cone pickup. The owner provided us with the special flusher. But most of the time we use the flush port on the back of the motor. The owner uses it also most of the time.. its a merc 300xs with the sportmaster LU

Well, I got my impeller repair kit in the mail yesterday.  I finally got a chance to install it later in the day today.  It was pretty straight-forward.  I just went along with the directions on a post on THT & it only took me about 1.5 hours taking my time.  So now I too can say "my HPDI goes wee-wee on the muffs"!  After I was done, I pulled the boat over to the ramp, backed her in, and cranked it up to test it out.  It was a much much stronger stream than before.

When I took the plastic impeller housing off of the shaft, I found the slight damage from my overheat alarm.  My impeller fits inside a stainless steel cup, which then fits inside the impeller housing.  I guess my impeller not being quite strong enough to pump water up into the housing combined with the spinning impeller caused the stainless steel cup to heat up.  When the cup heated up, it melted a small layer of the plastic within the impeller housing.  The build up of melted plastic was pushed near the outlet tube(partially blocking it).  It wasn't very much melted plastic, so I carved it away with my knife & sanded the area down with some fine grit sandpaper.  Next time I change the impeller, I will buy a new housing.  Here is the damage:

But, its all said & done now!  I can say that my HPDI has a strong enough impeller now to pee on the muffs!
