After replacing and rewiring everything electrical and plumbing, and getting some in-depth engine work done, I finally got to put my 2004 215 DC Osprey Sport in the water a few weeks ago for several test drives. It runs great! Now I can winterize it and I'll be set to go next Spring.
My drainage issue seems to be where the bilge pump is located in the aft bilge area. We had a nor'easter a few weeks ago with several inches of rain. I checked the boat after the strorm (it was in a slip) and had a lot of water from the bilge all the way to the forward ski locker. The bilge pump is mounted on a starboard platform behind the 8 gal water tank. This platform sits about an inch to an inch and a half above the lowest part of the bilge at the drain plug. The drain system tunnels under the water tank, fuel tank and into the ski locker between the consoles so consequently as rain water (or any water) fills the aft bilge area, it backs up under everything and into the ski locker before getting deep enough aft to activate the bilge pump. This is a lot of water. There's not enough room behind the starboard platform to mount the bilge pump lower. I've been looking at a couple of low profile bilge pumps, or perhaps running a hose from a pump to the low point. In the mean time I've rigged up a portable bilge pump that I can stick in the bilge (or elsewhere) to get rid of most of the water. Anyone have any ideas?
