Aquasport 20ft draft and running capabilities?
« on: October 09, 2011, 09:01:19 PM »
I have aquired a knock off of a aquasport flat back. All I know about the boat is its a 1977 and it was made in maitland fl. The original owner thinks the manufacturers name was Sun "something". Anyways, It looks exactly like a flatback I was woundering what the draft is on the flat backs? Its got a 150 yamaha on it now, But thats coming off and a yamaha 175 is goin on. And most all I have seen have the porta brackets on them? Is this needed or will a 6inch set back bobs jackplate work? Also with a jackplate how skinny will a flatback run?

Well I floated the boat today and with no load in the boat it floats in the rear 7inches. But in the front I believe it drafts a little more. Very excited about this boat. I just need to know if I can get away with a regular jackplate?

If you get a far enough set back jack plate or rig it with a bracket and a jack plate it will work.
When you say flatback are you talking about the transom or the deadrise? Aquasport only ever made a 22 flatback, proline made a 20 and 24.
Post some pic"s
