PHOENIX (AP) — El Paso, Texas, police arrested a passenger on a Southwest Airlines Co. flight from Phoenix after he refused to turn off his cell phone.

Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger in Dallas told The Associated Press Tuesday the man turned his cell phone on as the flight was landing in El Paso on Monday.

Eichinger says when the man was asked to turn his phone off, he did not and when the plane pulled up to the gate, El Paso authorities met the aircraft.

El Paso International Airport spokesman Jeff Schultes tells the El Paso Times officials interviewed witnesses who were onboard the flight.

The man's name and other details were not released.

I miss the good 'ol days when the Southwest flight attendants were always chicks in white go-go boots, halter tops and hot pants.  Drinks were free and flying was fun.   $35 bucks from Houston to Dallas and worth every penny.

On the other hand, on my last flight I think I got to second base with a TSA screener....

In alot of countries, their airlines don't require you to turn off cell phones.

One day, our FAA will change the regs to a more common-sense approach, but until then..... we follow the flock of sheep like we're supposed to!  

If cell phone usage could truly cause a jetliner to have navigation problems or crash, I don't think they'd let us on the plane with them.

I don't know guys. Several considerations here.

Absolutely...we should be able to use our cell-phones on the tarmac. That is, everyone but the turban-heads.

But that would be racial profiling.

So...with zilch due respect to the turban-heads...no one is allowed to use a cell phone until the craft has come to a complete stop at the terminal.

I hate flying these days. But I did (and still do) like white go-go boots, free drinks, halter tops. and hot pants :P

The precursor for Southwest was Love Airlines, and each stewardess (they were not flight attendents then) was selected by the president of the company - and he had a good eye!   :cyclops:

Southwest came out of Love and they had a concept of fun and sexy - you can't go wrong with that!!  Sometimes the party went from the flight to, well, wherever!  

And today - surly airline employees who think it's your job to serve them or it's their job to make sure you don't enjoy the flight too much.
