« on: September 06, 2011, 07:18:23 PM »
Does any one know where I can get the little pressed stainless 8-32 thread blind nuts used to mount the bow deck hatch hinges to the hatch doors on my 99 Osprey TM ?......I can't find them anywhere.
Thanks....Scott

Level,
We used to call them "top hats", but I believe the proper term is Well nut.  Take a pic of an existing one, contact Marine Fasteners in Sanford, FL (they supplied us back in those days), they should have what you need.  Probably send them to you for free...

Bob, this is a "well nut":

As you know, these are used a lot in mounting windshields to consoles.

Level,
Are you referring to a "self clinching nut"?

If so, http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/de ... 379&ucst=t
Whoa... $1.13ea.  I worked for this company for over 5 years.  I still have some friends that work there, so I could probably get you a better deal.  Lets hope you don't need more than a handful of these

These nuts are all stainless...no rubber....pressed into a "miners hat" or WW1 army helmet shape (I know pics would help ...but I still can't do the computer/camera "thing" right.)
Flounderpounder....the nuts in the link aren't the ones.  SeaBob.....I'll try Marine fastners and see what they say.
Thanks for the help.

Is it like this?? These are called rivnuts, if this is it, the only issue is, you have to have the tool to pull them like a rivet so they expand in the substrate.  Also, McMaster has these in stainless, I was just on this site, so using it for an example to see if it matches what you have.
