One of those days.
« on: August 17, 2011, 04:18:52 PM »
Well I had one of them today.  Started out to go fishing. Hadn’t had the 19-6 out in a while Soooooo I loaded up and drove over to the ramp. Got their and remembered I had put the drain plug on the gunnels. Because of all the rain I didn’t put it in in the drive way like I always do. Sooo no drain plug  . Get back in the truck drive back to the house, only 5 mins away. Get my other drain plug from the 22-2ccp. Drive back to the ramp. Launch the boat. Park the truck go get in the boat start it and pull away from the dock. Get 100 yards away and put my sun glasses on. One of the lens was gone. Back to the dock tie up. Leave the motor running and walk up to the ramp and start looking there. Walked back to the truck looking in the parking lot. No lens. Oh hell for get it. So start walking back to the boat only to see it drifting down the bay. The knot came loose  . I’ve never in fifty five years of boating, had a knot come undone. The boat drifted on to a sand bar. So It was either swim to it or wave some one down. Did the cross hand wave. You know to wave some one over. Two pontoon boats went by and waved back. Any body got a 50 cal..  But to my surprise a jet skier from ½ a mile away. Saw me waving and came over to the ramp to see what was wrong. I pointed to the boat. He laughed and said I’ll get it for you. Told him about the days start, and said I just may load it back on the trailer and go back to bed. He laugh again and said no go fishing you’ve eared it already. I tied it up again. This time even a 50 knot wind couldn't have caused it to come undone. Walked back to the ramp and there on the ramp was my lens.So today I had to be nice to jet skiers. Sooooo see what I mean about one of those days. :joker:  :D

I have had those days but still have not found a reason to be nice to someone on a jet ski.  I'm sure there are good ones but...

At least no one got hurt and nothing damaged.  I have swam to the boat before, once, 34 years ago.  I vowed it would never happen again.  So far so good.

John I look at it like Christmas. It’s only once a year that I have to be nice. But When you look at it. He did come from a ½ mile away. While other boaters went right by. So I’m looking at a Barret.  :thumright:

Yea a few short flounder and a few small blues. Lost the best fish. Looked like a 4 to 5 pound red fish. Fly pulled out when he rolled on top.

Yeah, I call that being a $hit Magnet... when everything just seems to turn the wrong way, I think they come around once in a while to make us appreciate those days when everything seems to just fall in perfect place even when you doubted that it would... :thumright:

Sounds like fun, hope the trip back to the house was uneventful.

I call it the "Fecal Touch". One of those days when everything you touch turns to chit.

Salt, glad you're back home safely. Know how it is to have a boat get gone. Had to swim for one many years ago in October...

JJ, my vote on that ride too :thumright:

Yea that boat would do it. :thumright:

I hope these types of days only come around once in a while. :D

I was suprised that only a jet skier was the only one to come over to see what I wanted.

I'll say everything was sticking . just like a chit mag. :flower:
