Dented my boat and need your suggestions

Well, I did it.  I am a newby boater and kind of panicked when aborting a docking into my slip and did a bit of damage to the port stern corner of the boat.  I have a 2000 Osprey Sport 215, 23 foot dual console.  The damage seems to be in the grey "bumper" that surrounds the boat and the "bumper holder" (I don't know the actual term for these things, obviously.)  I am going to place 2  URL links in this posting which, if I'm lucky, will bring you to my Snapfish site where I have placed photos of the damage.  Hopefully you can view the damage and make suggestions to me as what to do.  At the minimum, I would like to get the bumper back into the bumper holders, but they are very stiff and don't move.

The white is the rub rail and the grey is just an insert,try warming the insert with a hair dryer or heat gun in it should go back in.

I concur...and if you've not used a heat gun before, start slowwwly on the lowest setting.  They can get away from you.  I also recommend a pair of leather work gloves because you're gonna want to push that insert around while it's hot.   The hair dryer might work...my daughter's is about 2500 watts (based on last months electric bill.)

It appears that your boat may be hanging in slings?  If you have a trailer, it might make a more stable, accessible platform for the chore.  Like painting, good prep is 90% of the outcome.

I'm guessing the 'dent' may have to become a war-wound unless it's just pushed under in the photo...hard to tell.

A little tip.  Heat the area by waving the heat gun back and forth to get the entire insert heated evenly, put the bottom "lip" into the extrusion, then use a flat blade screwdriver to force the top lip into the extrusion...
