trailer "conversion"
« on: August 27, 2011, 02:07:32 PM »
Has anyone ever converted a motor boat trailer to a sailboat trailer? I have a 23' oday that I want to sell and an empty trailer that it will go on if I can get the "stands" to convert the trailer. I wanted to make sure this is possible and I  dont know where to find them to buy.
Thanks!

I thought I had several pictures but this is all I could find.  Two years ago my daughter and her husband bought a 23 O'Day in Tampa and towed it to Mobile, AL, then on up to Wisconsin.  It came on a converted trailer.  Whoever did it just basically drilled holes for u-bolts all the way around the frame for the risers.  Look close and you will see them.  The stands are just 2" pipe with bunk brackets on one end.  Behind the fenders you can see the keel which sat on a plywood platform just above the axles.  The trailer also had the little fat 10" tires to keep the height down.  Personally I would not tow that tall azz rig down the street but they did and got away with it.  I also don't like putting that many holes in the frame.
