They came out of the Doc's Talon.  Gil HD Racing aluminum trays, they were black powder coated, but corrosion over the years caused the PC to peel off.  Doc didn't want them, so I scrubbed and power washed them, then sprayed them flat black.  They've been sitting in the rafters in the shop doing nothing, Aaron will get 2, I have 1 more...

Speaking of powder coating. Bob don’t know if you are interested.  Harbor freight has a powder coating gun and its not expensive. It works well a friend bought one for small parts.  Does a good job and easy to use. Since I saw his at work I’m going to get one the next time I’m up in Dover. He cleans the parts and then pre heats before coating. Then he puts the parts on a cooky sheet and then in the oven. I think it does make a difference in how they turn out.

Gran he first used the one in his house. He did put a second cookie sheet under the rack. But the smell wasn’t to pleasant for his wife. Soooo I welded together a steel box with a vent and hinged door. He sits it on top of his crab pot burner with a thermometer. So he knows the temp. Then turns off the burner once it gets where he wants it. But that is get old for him so he got hold of a in wall oven that was being replaced. He is going to mount it in his work shop. I guess I’ll get the steel box back.

Those trays are serious chit, but the aluminum underneath needs to go through an acid bath to get rid of the white powdery stuff.  I ain't about to do that, for Aaron's boat, with a flat black finish, they'll work just fine.

After: You now have an OMC trim gauge, where up is up, down is down...



All the gauge lights work off the nav lgt switch.

Drop down the door, and there is your batt switch and main breaker...



And you actually have some uncluttered storage space, you can access your fuses, and you can change your batts without tearing up a bunch of chit!





What I couldn't do was tie in the newer harness to the old engine plug to get the key to shut the motor down.  If your newer harness was intact, I could probably do it.  But the way the newer harness was spiced into?  Give me another couple hundred and I'll figure it out!

Aaron, you have some good dry storage above the batts. I had a similar situation a while back, would throw my clothes duffel bag right on top of the batts to save space.

Bad idea, the batts ended up eating holes through the duffel

You could easily make a removable storage shelf/piece of ply etc. above the batts for this use if you like.

Well thank you, sir!  I left enough length on the stereo pigtail so that you can lay it on a piece of foam rubber where ever you want (within reason)...

The reason the trim gauge was backwards was that it was a Merc trim gauge, they are completely opposite of OMC trim gauges, and you can't "change" them.  I just happened to have an OMC one sitting around, doing nothing...

You also have the leads set up in the bilge, wired to the "Fishbox Pump out" switch, as we discussed, for whenever you want to add the livewell pump...
