Looks like scrap metal is up again.  Came in to work today to discover the outside A/C unit for our office had been stolen!  :(   They also made off with my neighbors unit too!  Man if there is one thing I can't stand it's a thief!  Good thing I didn't catch them.  I would have given them some hot lead to scrap!

I hate a damn thief too. I've had to deal with rich women kleptos...one hit me up 3 years back pretty bad.

I agree! Thiefs SUCK! Nothing worse than someone stealing something you work hard for. I am middle class man but I do all I can do and struggle bustin my butt to provide the best living for my family of 4. To have someone steal something from you just sickens me.

I heard copper and brass was back up again and I knew this would start back up.  Until the law clamps down on the scrap yards it will not change.  The bastiges know that all these AC units are not legitimate scrap.

Copper has been pretty popular down here in FL, with AC unit thefts fluctuating with the price of copper.

The new one? Cast iron thefts!  Like those huge metal drainage grates on the ground in parking lots? We've seen them missing lately down here.

Been there, done that.
We spot weld the grate to the frame. Persistence will yield the grate but the output of noise and energy keeps loss to a bare minimum.
