Waterman,

I'm not good with pics, but I can tell you how mine is done.  I cut starboard to fit the cutout in the dash opening and made it into a shelf that is about 6" high.  Mounted the stereo under the shelf and electronics on top.  Also the extra space gives me a safe place to put my wallet, keys, etc.  Also put a 1/2" x 1/2" piece of starboard as a lip in the bottom of the cutout to keep them from bouncing out on the floor.

Hey there Waterman,

I recently bought a 215 Exp.  It has a West Marine AM/FM/CD player, mounted down in the cabin (I will shoot some photos and post them for you, say, over the weekend).  This was placed in the boat either by the factory or the previous owner - maybe some other folks can speak as to where the factory installed their stereos.

I will describe to you how my boat is laid out, as I'm not sure if all year models are identical - just to give you an idea of where somebody decided to put the stereo in this boat.

If you are sitting down in the cabin, facing aft, you'll notice the bulkheads, port and starboard of the companionway.  An opening cut out of each port and starboard bulkhead allows access to storage areas behind the behind the bulkhead.   On my boat, they mounted the stereo above the access opening on the port bulkhead.  So basically, I just sort of halfway lean into the cabin and look down to my left to turn on the radio, switch channels, etc.  It seems pretty OK thus far.

I hope this helped you out a little, I'll try to shoot some photos and post them.

       Best wishes, T
