New Aquasport Owner, 2001 225 Osprey

Hey all, it has been a while since I posted here.. (few questions in 09).

I recently joined the Aquasport family (my father has a '88 250 Express). I got a 2001 225 Osprey w/ twin 150 Etecs.

I have a technical question on the boat though.  There is a black fuse box in the transom compartment. It has 3 fuses labeled; fwd bilge, aft bilge and stereo. The aft bilge fuse and cap are missing, and the stereo one will not stay seated in the hole, there appears to be corrosion in the holes.  Can any of you all suggest a easy to install updated box for me to use to replace the old one.
The dealer is supposed to be fixing the fuses before delivery, but I think they will quick fix it, so I need to find a permanent solution to my problem.

Well, you certainly have a rarity, we didn't do too many twin 225s, although I loved the setup, she'll run like a scalded dog with 150s!  Imagine you have a spashwell mount sterring cylinder as opposed to the front mount, there wasn't the room at hardover.  Don't worry, the only thing it affects is an autopilot, as one can't be used with a splashwell mount as it is an unbalanced cylinder...

Now, that "Fuse/Breaker Box" was nothing special. non-marine, you could fab the same thing out of a plastic J-Box you can get at HD, just have to punch a few holes in it for new fuse holders and the 40A main breaker...

I honestly don't know too much about electronics, so this will be a learning experience.  Will something like this work?

Absoltely, but, remember, the red push-button breaker is 40A (protects the whole boat), whereas the max current rating on any individual circuit on the Blue Seas is 30A.

So do this.  Get a small J-Box from HD, install the 40A in there, then have it feed the Blue Seas Fuse block...

Ya, SeaBob is about on target.. I can get it to about 50 on light to moderate chop. Haven't had a chance to really play with it to find the "soft spot".

I hope I'm not hijacking this post but could you show a diagram of the wiring of the black box with the 40 amp breaker in it.I have the same thing on my 98 TM and I'm trying to straighten the wiring out.

Alright Mark, back to the task at hand.  The main breaker was fed from the battery switch, then forward to the helm switch panel.  There were 4 fuse holders, one for the tabs (probably fed from the main breaker, as it is switched power), one for the aft bilge pump constant hot and one for the fwd bilge pump constant hot.  Your boat doesn't have the fwd bilge pump (same breaker box as used on the Explorers, which do have a fwd bilge pump).  These 2 fuses were fed directly from batt 1 on the battery switch.  The 4th fuse is stereo memory, which also is constant hot and also fed from the batt 1 post on the switch.  Remember, the constant hot lead for the bilge pump float switch goes to one lead coming off the float, the other lead off the float combines with the hot off the pump, and runs forward to the helm manual switch...
