Memorial Day Tarpon
« on: June 01, 2011, 04:15:25 PM »
Had some friends in from Europe (military folks, thought it was fitting to fish with them this weekend) and hooked up with some tarpon!  This was their first time fishing for Tarpon, and they were rewarded with a few boated fish and several hookups.  One day on the Beach, one day at Egmont.

The wife wrassled some fish as well:

Even the dog enjoyed the trip (damn, still need to paint that front hatch!!!):

Nice work! Hit up the north end of Anna Maria on Satuday morning and found a bunch of mid size schools working down the beach towards Longboat Pass- hooked up with a few and got 1 to the boat. Much better tides than last weekend.

Forget the fish....How much for the doggy-dog?

That looks to be a fine dog :thumright:

We love dogs around our house. My wife considers our pup as a human.

I know...

Thanks!  He's come a long way, he was WILD when we got him... but after an immense amount of training he is a great dog.  He was happy to be on the boat all day - but was a little unsure of the crabs (for the best I'm sure).  Also didn't much care for pilchards either.

Hey Rick, Nice seeing you out at Egmont on Sunday. How many Tarpon did you end up pulling in?
I had a boat full (of people) that day! I had planned on dropping off the wives and kids on the island and then taking the guys fishing for tarpon right there where you guys were. By the time i actually found a spot (boat to boat lined up all the way down the beach), unloaded, had a few beers, i got too comfortable and didn't want to leave.

Tarpon's just heating up, plenty of days to come!
