Grounding Question
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:43:38 PM »
I am installing eight LED indicator lights. No problem with the positive side of the wiring.

Each light has a separate ground wire, is there a safe way to aggregate these wires into one connection to the busbar?

I install a lot of ScarabChris' tape lights in my line of work, 28GA positive and negative leads.  I can combine 4 or 5 into a 16-14GA butt, and run 1 lead to the 12V- bus bar...

Thank you both. So it is indeed possible.

This leads me to another issue, I need more Busbar terminals. Can I simply add another by wiring the studs? And, Bob how does that EL tape work? I had read it was not to be used in high humidity.

Thanks again.

Greg,
If you are not putting high amperage loads whereas that's the reason you need another bus bar, than go ahead and daisy chain it to the original.  You have a 175, I can't see you adding a windlass...

As far as the adhesive on both Rob and Chris' lights, they both use the same exact 3M adhesive...and it needs help.  At first I went with 3M general spray adhesive.  Now I've gone to 3M Super 77 spray adhesive.  But a few well placed drops of two-part epoxy does the trick...

Indeed I am not running high amps, I just need more grounds. Daisy chaining them seems to be the easiest solution.

Thanks
