dad's been gettin her ready for summer...

for those that havent seen any pics of our searay, here they are...

everything was a mixture of forest green and brown when we bought the boat, now everything except the rub rail is blue and silver. originally had 1 peice aluminum rubrail that was all dinged and bent, replacet it with aluminum with colored vinyl insert

getting a completely new Bimini top with full enclosure next week

did someone mention teak?

total of 6 speakers and one 10 inch subwoofer

custom gauge and switch panels, enough room to mount 5 or 6 series garmin gps/ff combo

pair of 3.7L I4's we built on the floor of our garage, brand new gimble housings and outdrives

re-did the entire interior, gutted everything out, started from scratch(saved/reused all teak trim). we will be doing that plasteak (plastic teak) flooring in the cabin next winter

custom fold out bench seat and 4 inch thick backrest/bolster

Those 470's were excellent engines. Total Mercury design, block and castings. If I remember they had Ford tractor crankshafts, turned around 5000 rpm's @WOT. Not sure why Mercury abandoned the design, I think they also had a 485 as well. 4 cylinder 185 hp and light weight.

they also use ford 460 bigblock rods, pistons, heads and valve-train. they dont push the boat nowhere near fast but they do get pretty good mileage

we thought about swaping the heads to ford racing aluminum heads to reduce weight and a little bit more power

While I would love the 350MAGs, they had to be a tight fit...

But 600HP would be nice...

Not to hijack your thread, but it came up when I searched ALUMINUM RUB RAIL.

Did the Aquasport factory ever use that type? My '97 225 has a small piece of aluminum rub rail at the stern. Guessing it was a PO DIY repair job, but honestly I'd never noticed it till now. Getting ready to replace my entire rub rail, maybe this weekend.

I'm assuming that the white plastic rub rail on the Right is factory, and the other is PO...

While I have your attention, what could cause this pitting in the aluminum near the engine mount?

Mike,
That is totally PO stuff!  Nothing like that ever used in that era...

Your pitting?  Corrosion.  Remember, the zincs are attached to the motor, the motor comes in contact with the aluminum trim, hence, guilt by association, the corrosion, or electrolysis, shows up in the aluminum...
