Its around 365 lbs and I am betting the 200 would be overkill, fast, but overkill. Plus if your boat is insured and you have an accident your insurance can decide not to pay since your hull is "overpowered" My.02 for what its worth.

Well, right now, I have one of the Doc's boats at my place for a little re-do.  17 Renegade flats boat, 200 Merc, low water pickup with a bullet nose cone, Boyeson reeds, dry stack exhaust, probably pushing 250-275 HP...forgot to mention, 6" Bob's jackplate...

Lewis puts forth some good points, but...speed is, well, what it is...

Feelin',

I don't know bro. That hull isn't exactly designed for high speed operation...Would get real squirrelly over 45....maybe see if that guy will include a full helmet and high impact PFD's...

I have a feeling that your mid range is going to turn into a bucking bronco ride. Too much stern weight and torque. You will probably have to run it trimmed all the in to keep from going into a wild porpise. Our boats were far from speed demons. Quite frankly, a healthy 135 was overpowering this boat. I would stick with a 115 max. Now that outboards are prop rated for horsepower a 115 with run with your old powerhead rated 135 on a lot less fuel.

after re checking my motor decided to stay with the classic. found out that some pepole should not be allowed to take the cover off a motor. the po decided the best way to check the plugs was to push the tester through the spark plug boot. this caused the spark to jump to anything but the plug.after putting my hand (by chance) near the plug boot i got the shock of my life while standing in the water from the hose. damm that hurt. two of the four plug were jumping spark. the 34 year old motor now sounds like a 3 year old motor. still loud but its a 2 stroke cant expect silence or gnats for that matter.lol.

thanks for the advice on the 200. dont think hull could handle that much motor. (like everything sliding to the back on hole shot.)
