ethanol and CFL lights are a sad joke played on us by the government.

Y'all do know they are phasing out incandescent light bulbs?  100W and larger sometime this year, smaller wattage next year.  In the near future no incandescent bulbs except oven bulbs.

Google the hazards of mercury contamination if you break a CFL inside the home.

So, does the pump show that you can buy non-ethanol in 3 grades?

Bob, I don't remember.  It was bedtime and 20 below zero with a -35 wind chill.  All I wanted to do was get some gas in the car.  I fumbled around quite a bit with the cell phone because I was not about to take my gloves off.

Rick,
I think so.  I saw nothing about ethanol in the other three grades.

I can still get real gas up here, two places out in town, one is pretty close and it's 93 Octane premium, runs about 20 cents higher than midgrade corn gas, and then the Navy Base Marina has it on the fuel dock, it's mid-grade 89, this past weekend, paid 3.68 per. Gal, it sure ain't cheap to run out for a quick fishing trip anymore.  We ran to the USS Oriskiny about 26 miles out, caught some nice scamp grouper that we had to throw back, and a few AJ's that were just under, but my 250 HPDI was getting a little better than 2.5 MPG @ 30 MPH, so I'm happy with that figure, considering the girl's size and we were fairly loaded out.

As best remember when was in SD back in the fall, E85 was around a buck less/gal than 87 octane.

According to The Detroit News, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to block the Environmental Protection Agency from moving toward a higher blend of ethanol in America's gasoline.

According to The Detroit News, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to block the Environmental Protection Agency from moving toward a higher blend of ethanol in America's gasoline. Representatives voted 286-135 against allowing the EPA to issue a waiver that would allow gas stations to sell E15. Currently, fueling stations are only allowed to sell E10, which contains up to 10 percent of the biofuel. The new legislation would allow a 50-percent increase in the amount of ethanol sold in each gallon of gasoline. Representative John Sullivan (R-Oklahoma) attached an amendment to the bill to provide funding for the U.S. government through September, effectively killing the legislation.

While The Renewable Fuels Association criticized the decision to stop the E15 waiver, several groups were thoroughly against the increase in ethanol. Those include everyone from the Specialty Equipment Market Association to the American Bakers Association.

The EPA has already approved E15 for vehicles made after 2001, but some groups worry that a higher blend across the board could wind up corroding older engines. Meanwhile, proponents of the increase claim that larger ethanol quantities will help lower America's dependence on foreign oil.

How JEALOUS am I that you can just scoot out on a nice sunny weekend to the Mighty O!
That is such a great dive.  If I get back up to P'cola sometime, you gonna run me out there?

Last weekend was beautiful down here too.  Dive buddy and I went about 15nm off Sanibel Island and dove an artificial reef (ARC tower).  Saw some mammoth AJ's and Goliaths down there.  Would have bagged an AJ if I hadn't been so clumsy with my speargun.
