Woody's nice snook!
« on: May 31, 2011, 03:57:17 PM »
I was talking to him the other day telling him this time of year was when I always caught my biggest snook. Well he caught his biggest to date yesterday. He said it ran him around the motor and back in the mangroves. Just posting these photos for him. 36 inches and 10 1/2 lbs.

Dude you are killing me! Damn I miss that place!

Thanks Lewis for posting the pictures for me .Just to set the record straight , I did release it .(season closed ) Maybe I'll have a chance again in Sept.!    For a relative comparison , the deckplate in the picture is 10" . He stretched from transom to the back of the seat on my 175 AS !  Good fight , good fun !

You're a good man Woody. :thumright:

As for me,
I never met (caught) a snook I couldn't eat.

Then again, that was the least of my Purgatory Passport transactions.

I've had plenty of Purgatory transactions myself. From what you boys tell me, those snook are about the best-eating things that swim. Never had the pleasure...

Reminds me of slightly undersized flounder up here...we on occasion (when fishing is slow) refer to them as "frying pan legal".

Nice fish Woody!!

Believe me , it was a temptation , but it's such a secret little honey hole that I kept thinking if I could get my 13 yr old grandaughter onto that snook , then that would be better than eating it . I guess as I get older I look at things a little different .

Dip fillets in buttermilk and egg dredge and roll in crushed cornflakes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
The only fish that might be better is ARS or scamp (baby scamp)

Mmmmmmm, Mmmmmmmmm!

ALWAYS remove the skin (where it gets it's old timey nickname "soapfish"), my absolute favorite table fare!  Makes great sandwiches too.  But, cut into 1" chunks, dipped in Golden Dip't "Fish 'n Chips" batter with a half a can of beer thrown in to make the batter a little lighter?  Now we're talking!! :salut:  :salut:

And it's always a thrill to lip-lock a big girl like her!

Funny how the snook fishery has made leaps and bounds over the past 15 years...but they closed it for a period of time?  I mean, WTF?
