I have a 1998 215 Explorer and as you know the nose edge of the boat slops at 45 degrees. I have a 14 lb. Danforth fluke anchor and of course when I pull it up the chain tares up my gel coat. So I have decided to get a anchor roller that will HANG over about 10 " and have the other half bolted through a bottom plate. This would allow the full anchor to fit into the roller and stay there with a pin going through the the chain to hold it in place.
My question is: Is the nose of a 251 Explorer strong enough (if properly supported) to take the weight of an anchor when it's bouncing
around at sea. Also which anchor roller would do the job without costing $200 or more dollars?
If anyone has done it on a 215 Explorer and has pictures or ideas that would be very helpful.
Thanks again
