Picked up this hull a few weeks back with my partner and we have been slowly but surely progressing to have ready another charter boat before the spring. Boat was originally powered with a 454chevy big block which we pulled and the underwater gear. Going to power it with an outboard on a bracket.Removed old rub rail and cap.Grinded all the transom down. Tied in two 3/4" sandply stringers to transom and floor. Made a transom template and cut four 1/2"sandply and glassed them in.Grinded and laid up all holes from underwater gear.Cut out the majority of the deck and have cut new out of 3/4 sandplyand glassed 3/4oz. on underside.Cut down old motor mount stringers and glassed put in 60gal. fuel tank but have not foamed yet. Ran a couple chase tubes from back compartment.Lookin for new console so any ideas on where to find would be great. Will post more as we progress.Capt. Brandon

Make sure you seal the sandply up really good. Glass all surfaces, overdrill holes and epoxy fill before screwing into it, etc. That particular plywood is terrible with any kind of moisture around it, its like a sponge.

Brandon, welcome!
Are you planning on replacing the stringer foam and side foam before the deck goes in?
Nice 240, good find.

I would not replace the foam on the sides of the stringers - it will just collect water and cause problems.

Here's a link to a nice one that's ready to go. All holes filled except the one where the compass is shown. Price is right at $300.00. Painted with polyurathane. It would be perfect for your boat. It's a neat console with no hardware to break.

Gran,
We are going to leave the foam thats in it alone it all looks to be in good condition as well as the foam filled stringers.
Kieth,
Thanks for the link to the console but the width is to wide. Lookin for something under 38" wide.
