Identifying the Aquasport FONT
« on: December 02, 2010, 11:26:07 AM »
Has anyone discovered the Aquasport font?  (Not the Classic version, but the 90's-era font).  Like as seen here:

http://i12.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/22/4c/0198_12.JPG

My prior owner had removed all decals, so I have a clean canvas.  I'm thinking of naming the boat "Aquasomething", like maybe Aquadiver, Aquahunter... and I thought putting the name in the font of the original Aquasport graphic would be cool.  Contacted a guy on ebay who is selling the graphics, but he doesn't have the font.  Said he could do a custom decal IF I could tell him the font!

I have that artwork for my vinyl plotter but it is vector art so I can't just add letters to it.   I'm not sure if it is a standard font or one that has been modified.   I have literally discs and discs of fonts and it is time consuming to find a match.  The is a online font finder wizard but I forget the url for it.

Edit:  here it is:  http://www.identifont.com/

Bob,
That Soft Hits is similar, but they don't provide any CAPITAL letters in that font!

Eurostyle is also close.... maybe if it were bold, and squished vertically somehow...
And that leading "A" was stretched left...

As a graphic designer myself, I honestly don't think its a known font or one that exist for that matter.  Its more than likely a Custom made font that was created, adjusted, and tweaked just for that logo.  Even if you found a font that was close, you would have to modify it greatly.  Look at the The first A.  Its different than the second A.  The Q is actually an O with the longer strike mark added later.   I think its going to be very difficult to find, but I'll search my system to see if I have something close.

Scott, that's what Maggie was saying.  It that Soft Picks had caps, she was thing of putting it into Illustrator, than doing the tweakage necessary to match it.  She did a project once in school and the subject she chose was the guy who created the Avant Garde font.  That cap A in Aquasport looks a lot like Avant Garde...

Yeah I was thinking it was a font or a mixture of fonts that were stretched and tweaked to get the logo.  Or as previously mentioned a totally custom font.
