I did review your tank post, good luck with that project.  I guess the old tanks are set stiff and it takes some work to pop them!

Here are more pics of the boat after she received a goos wash and wax this weekend.

If anyone can give me some insight to the crack on the tansom it would be helpful.  I said before that it was on the interior, ,but it on the exterior between the motor bolts.

Thanks.

That is a common issue on the early 70's mainly because of age and inner wood core decay. The outer fiberglass "shell" is separating from wood transom inner support and causes the crack. You can patch it or cover it up but it will eventually come back. We all have varying degrees of this on our early 70's hulls that still have original transom like yours. Run the boat, enjoy it, keep an I on it, maybe a little silicone over the crack to help keep more water from migrating inside. Yours is in a good hiding spot. Our boats are over 35 years old and they get wrinkles just like we do! She looks great and you are really going to enjoy her, these boats seem to do everything well.

If you like, you can also review JD and Mike's transom work:

Thanks Guys!  I was told it was not a major issue and I am glad you are confirming that.  I did clean it up this weekend and have some silicone to put in to try and keep more water out.

Weather is turning up here and I can wait to get her on the water!  Hopefully in the next couple weeks.
