225 Explorer T-Top Fit-up.

What do you need to measure to see if a t-top fits the explorer or not? Here are some photos of a t-top I am interested in that the guys says fits a walkaround, but it just doesn't seem that straight forward as a center console? Thanks guys.

I did this years ago when I had my Chris Craft WA, the biggest thing IMO is to measure the length from the front mounts to the rear to see if it will hit the top of the cabin in an area that you can through bolt in, and where it will hit the cockpit/helm area for same purpose.  Then measure the width for the same purpose.  The height can always be adjusted by cutting and welding new pieces on, and/or in my case, I had to angle the rear feet for mounting.  you will see the welds, but if the price is right, they can always be cleaned up, and you'll have a nice top?  But if the frame is too long or wide, it really can't be done without major cutting and re-engineering, so not really worth it.  Do you have friends or access to tig or mig?

Typically with hardtops, the aft legs will land on the wings above the deck.  But obviously with that one, the legs are meant to be bolted to either the cockpit sole or to raised flats on the boat it was designed for.

The most important dimensions are the length between the forward and aft legs, as measured or a plane parallel to the top itself, and the width between both the forward legs and the aft legs...

Thanks Guys. I think I am going to pass on this one, and look into getting a hardtop that mounts to the wings above the deck as seabob stated. too bad I can't find a factory one laying around.

Climb the fence just west of the railroad tracks on the eastern edge of the old plant off Whitfield...I bet you'd find one...

Did you get that half tower off that guy? I noticed he said that it came off a 23' aquasport. I didn't even think to ask what it came off of. I guess I should have jumped on it. Just wasn't sure where the rear supports would come down at, and thought I would like one that attached to the cabin wing walls.
