OK everyone, Dirty probably been spending quality time with the Aqua.
It's unfortunate that he fell through the cracks in the system and especially with the welcome all new members get from the forum, I appreciate his candor.

I will say this, he's refreshing in the fact that he ain't squakin' about his post count.

Hello All, Thanks for getting back. And especially since nobody told me to go F myself!
I have a small electrical contracting business and have been dealing with the moron of all a$$holes this week. So I haven't been around much. Now that that's over, today I got to destress and put a new C.D.I on my aquasport. I seem to have solid spark on all cylinders now, So I'm gonna give it a test run tomorrow.

Again thanks for the welcome, Those crickets were getting loud  :D

Any members of shovelhead U.S. Around here?

Edit from Admin: Consider yourself warned about your language - that's twice I changed your comments.

Dirty,
The site has been going through major software changes, it's a good possibility that the post was lost, perhaps not seen by any members...

Now, that being said, WELCOME ABOARD!  The old Aquas are impressive boats, beats the hell out of the Genmar Aquas (that I used to build!), I'm sure more will come along and share their experiences, help you out with any questions, and just generally make you feel at home.

Just watch the language.  Even though I use the F-word considerably, we save that for THT!  And even THT doesn't allow that!

Don't say I didn't warn you... :thumright:

Is there a George Carlin list of words not allowed to be used on this site? I may need it. :?

I guess I been on shovelhead U.S. too long. I'll try to tame it a bit.  Sorry Captain.

We don't have many rules here Dirty - 1) we don't appreciate swearing - there are plenty of other sites you can hang out at that don't mind that kind of attitude, 2) we expect members to treat each other civilly and with respect - if you are looking for a site to come into and beat your chest looking to take on someone's remarks so you can de-stress from the day, fortunately this is not that place.
This is a site that you can come to unwind at and learn about your boat.  Being that we treat everyone the same, there is no intimidation for asking any type of question. I'm sure that you will have good pointers to pass along to others in need when their need arises.  Maybe this site is too milktoast for some but we like it and call it one of our homes.

Dirty,
I do tend to cuss like a sailor in real life, yet only after I have ascertained that that kind of language is acceptable in the particular situation.  My boss at Proline was a reformed alcoholic ex-smoker ex-Scottish Navy bloke who had found religion, and therefore cussing was verbotten.  Now, in a boat factory, :*:, every other word is the F-word.  So, one has to learn to be flexible and realize the situations, then act accordingly.

That being said, Classic Aquasport truly is the BEST site on the internet, the site I call home, even though I left Wellcraft/Aquasport 10 years ago.  You will find that virtually anything you may want to know about your boat can be found right here, by many members who have either done what you want to do, or have suffered through the same issues you may suffer through.  And there is no "I can top that" BS like you'll find on THT or some of the other brand-specific sites.  Hell, go on Continuous Wave (Boston Whaler), ask what's the best way to install and wire a bilge pump, and before you know it, you'll have 5 pages of posts, all being a better way than the last one, and half the membership pissed off at the other half.  It's almost comical.

So sit back, relax, enjoy.  There's a reason I come here first every morning... :thumright:

That said; whats wrong with your outboard? From the picture it looks like and mid 80`s Johnson 3 cylinder or V4 hard to tell. Now you say you have spark.....

Yeah Fitz, Had a problem with spark and it tested out to be the CDI, I just put a new one on and the boat seems to be  running much better now. I also cleaned out the carbs, the fuel filter and did the link & sync.  The engine is an old 1978 triple 75hp. It's got great even compression and should run a long time for me. Next thing I want to do is check  to see if it has a thermostat in it. If not I want to get one in because I want to run it in cold water in the winter.

In the spring I plan on putting a new water pump in too.

I picked this motor up for  $100.00 and it seems  to be a good match for the 170. I'm no speed demon so 33mph is great for me.
