Gel Coat Removal Tool
« on: December 28, 2005, 08:41:28 AM »
Anybody know the name of that tool that strips off gel coat?

I saw it on Ship Shape TV once, worked kind of like a portable hand held thickness planer.

It had a depth adjustment to vary the depth of cut and made about a 3" - 4" wide path down the side of the hull with each pass.

That'll be tons easier than sanding off the gel coat around the sides and bottom of the hull to bond in the transom.

Anybody know where I can rent one?

Just don\'t know which summer.

Ship Shape TV's website is so useless.

I think this is what you are looking for:

I did a quick search on rentals to no avail.

I like the proscraper for removing paint. Seems to sell for around $40. Might be the ticket since the wife just killed next year's boat budget.
