Funny thing years ago when i first had probs with mine it was between Jimmy(dumb) and Blackbird(dummer) glad i went with dumb at least he tried.This guy from Blackbird just screewed the pouch on this one.After reading ole seabob it putting the screws into the dead birds coffin.....Too funny get um bob.

The net worked for me ............went so far as someone in Fl had to close his shop and change all his phone numbers, wonder if these people think it  was worth it to screw somebody over

That thread scares me....

I have a 20 yr old Mariner 150HP that is currently running fine. Had compression checked this spring when carbs were cleaned and it has 130-135 PSI on all six cylinders.

Anyhow, I sure as he11 hope that I don't have to rebuild anytime soon. I have always abided by the old adage: "It is worse to let a motor sit than to run it"...I always put the ears on at least once a month and run my engine if I am not boating. I religiously change lower unit oil and water pump every year..

Having problems like some of the people are talking about in that thread gives me nightmares ! I love boating but in today's economy I couldn't afford to throw $ 6000 down the toilet....Heck, I couldn't afford $ 6000 period...I can't believe that people would blindly do business like that without doing some serious research...especially on a company way up in bum-phluck Pennsylvania.

He11, about 1-1/2 years ago Evinrude was offering a helluva deal on ETec 150's....you could get a 150HP for around $ 9500 and that included a $1500 voucher towards the rigging !!! Those motors were going for around $ 13500 retail at the time...I have been tempted to hang a new motor on my old Aquasport but don't want to add another payment to my bills each month.

I just hope and pray that I can get a couple of more years outta this old Mariner 150....

Now A1 has started their own thread, somehow trying to defend themselves.

It would be very easy to man up and accept the responsibility, fix the problems, and adopt the type of business practice that will ensure them future clients...they just don't seem to have it in them...

I have noticed even in our area that these guys become very good at the technical detail and know the details of a great engine rebuild and try to venture out on their own and become horrible business people and have no clue as to how to run a business. They are generally too prideful to realize that they can`t run a business and focus on their talent at the same time. They believe because they are astute at fitting a piston into a bore and understanding great technical detail that running a company is a given. We have a local guy who has this talent but insists on making sure that his image is more important than the value to his customers and doesn`t realize that the praise comes from accomplishment and not BS. Today`s outboard rebuild is serious coin and these guys need to realize this.

Actually, both the technical aspects and the business aspects can be achieved...but one has to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time....
