Mercury Throttle Friction Adjustment Screw ??

Hey Guys-

I have a non-Aquasport related question that I'm having real trouble finding the answer to:

My girlfriend's SeaFox has a 2005 Mercury 4 Stroke w/ the standard (not the Quiksilver series) Binnacle Mount Controls.  The Controls are very stiff...  Would anyone happen to know where the friction adjustment screw is located?  I've taken the cover off and it's not jumping out at me.

Usually a stiff binnacle control is due to the cables, not the controls.  Try injecting some oil in the cables or work them back a forth a good bit.  Corrosion in cables is pretty common and often a stiff or difficult binnacle control is a symptom of future cable replacement.  Take the cables loose at both ends and see if both traverse easily - in many cases only one cable needs replacing.

Basically John is correct here, I kinda feel stupid.  The throttle friction screw is primarily to keep the lever from backing down and dropping RPM.  Stiff operation would most likely be the cable.  However, since it's an '05, I would be looking more towards to tight a bend in the throttle cable rather than the cable being bad...

Thanks a lot guys.  I think the link that Lewis posted goes to a Forum that goes to that Ishopmarine site, Thanks Bob for narrowing it down.  The boat is usually left moored so corrosion is likely to be causing the stiffness; thanks for the tip Fission
