jdupree, understand you have a leaking tilt ram...
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:00:27 PM »
JD,
Got a call from Lewis today (don't you just love this site? :D ), said the center ram on your Yam is leaking.  I take it the trim/tilt motor looks like this...

You'll have to support the motor, than remove the circlip that holds the upper end to the motor.  Drive the pin out, then loosen the bottom bolts of the tilt motor mount.  this should allow it to swing down.  Then you'll need a spanner wrench (hammer and drift work well also) to remove the end gland.  The ram has to come out to remove the gland and any seals.  May have to cut and or loosen the pump wires to drop her far enough...

Hope this helps...

Gotta love the internet!
I just hope he sees this! I tried calling him back but no answer.

Thanks Seabob and Lewis.  I appreciate it.  I would consider myself an average guy as far as my mechanical ability.  So this is not too difficult?  Thanks again guys :!:

JD, if you need more pics from different angles, I can do, the motor is on an 18 Egret out by the shop, 235' away...

But since there is no leak from it's tilt/trim motor, I'm not taking it apart for a "how-to"...
