Best 90hp motor on the market

I'm replacing one of my work boat's motors and am curious as to my options.  Every level of quality is different per motor it seems.

One company might make a bad arsed 150hp while their 90hp may be a POS.  

The boat has a 2002 90hp Ficht on it right now.  It's okay.  It's good on gas an oil but is tempermental.  The easy swap would be a 90hp E-tec.  But i'm also leaning towards a 90hp Yamaha 2-stroke because mechanics are plentiful for those.

So who is building the best 90hp right now?

If you can still find one; carburated 90 hp 3 cyl Merc 2 stroke that really dynos at near 100 hp. Bullet proof design and crabbers around here are running them everyday. Not to mention a gearcase design that they were bolting to 125 hp engines without failures.

The 90 yamaha two stroke is a good motor they have been making near unchanged for 20 years. Best motors we have used on our boats are the tohatsu engines, bullet proof, really. Engine of choice for commercial fisherman around the world. They make all the nissans as well, either brand would be a great motor.

Yeah from the research i've been doing the 90 E-tec is probably the way to go.  320lbs is super light too.  

I've got a 75 E-Tec on one boat and a 60 E-Tec on the other.  The one with the 75 on it is in the shop for the first time with probably close to a 1000 hours on getting a new fuel pump and a new fuel injector.  Mechanic thinks it inhaled some bad gas so probably not the e-tecs fault.  

The 60 e-tec is pretty low hour but it runs like a champ.  

I'm lucky to get 6 years out of a work engine anyhow.  They get run to death and used by quite a few people.

Might check the new suzuki 90hp, low weight for a four stroke. 340lbs. Should be just as reliable as all their other motors.

I have to second the motion for Tohatsu and Nissan.  I have a 93 Nissan 90 on my AS 170 that runs like a champ.  Most of the mullet boats out of Cortez, Fl run Tohatsu 90 horse engines.  In fact I met a crab fisherman at the shop a couple of weeks ago that was having his Tohatsu 90 TLDI serviced.  The engine has 4600 hours on it.  Really tough motors made for commercial work.

Ok, how about a Bendix, Champion, Elgin, Elto, Eska, Martin, Neptune, or Scott (Atwater or McCullough)?   And remember that Force was West Bend before Chrysler bought them!  But if you want to blow everybody's mind at the dock, put a 75 Hp Riley on her!  It's a 5 cylinder radial-engined outboard from the 40's that nobody could touch - and today nobody can find!
