1971 170 Convenience Package

Has anyone heard of this?  I found an ad from 1971 on ebay showing a convenience package.  So I snatched it up.  It shows a drop in rear deck, transom baitwells, and a few other goodies.  I would like to get it posted to the website in the gallery with some of the other ads.  Here's a picture of it:

Not the best picture, with my camera phone.  Let me know how I can get a better picture to the website.  Has anyone ever added a rear deck to their aquasport like what they made back when.  I think I might add something like this if I have to ever redo the floor or transom.

that really cool . Wish i can find one for my 1977 17ft boat. That would be really useful when i fish.

I have a 1975 22 Family Fisherman that has what appears to be an optional splashwell that is screwed into the transom and sides.  It can't be aftermarket because it is a perfect fit to the various curves and angles where it mounts to the stern of the boat.  All I can think of is it's a factory option.  I'll try to post some pics.  It's not anywhere near as elaborate as what you show in that ad.

You can see it here but it's hard to tell what you are looking at without a few other close ups and different angles.  I'll try to take some photos tomorrow and post them.  It's definately had me wondering about the story behind it.

Thanks for the replies guys.  I have heard of a drop in splash well for the rear of our boats from back then.  I had not seen a rear deck/storage area before.  Thanks for the picture of your boat.  My guess would be that they did not sell many of these.  As I have never seen on or heard of one on the back of an old AS.

Akbridge do you think you could posts or email me some pictures of the back deck and the measurement of the deck like H W D for me please. Thinking about making a similar when i restore the boat next winter.

The drop in rear section was not very popular, and only offered a few years.  It was an interesting idea, kind of a convertible thing for the rear of the boat.  It replaced the cooler/seat with a raised deck area.  I understand it was a pain to remove and install, but I've never actually seen one, so....    

The transom-mounted baitwells were more popular, and you see those on boats pretty often now.  

Deep-V hulls (FF, XF, CCP, CCC) all offered full spashwells as an option, and you see the full spashwell on many, especially the CCPs.  The spashwells do a good job of keeping the water on the outside of the boat, especially when fishing in choppy water.

I can get you better pictures of the ad.  But I do not have such a back deck, I wish!  Maybe you are thinking of GoneFission's setup?  If I were to make the back deck, I would make it full width of the back, about 20" tall ( the same height as a chair to make it comfy to sit on), and all the way up to where my cooler seat is currently (probably about 4-5 feet).  A suggestion would be to look at flats boats out there and find a deck layout that you like and copy it.
