Need new fuel tank
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:16:17 PM »
I'm rebuilding a 1972 196 Aquasport.  There is a 25 gallon fuel tank that needs to be replaced.  Anyone know of a good place in Florida to get a new one?  Brand?  Type?

Thanks,
Pete

This is a 75 model but I would think it's about the same.

25 gal :?:  More like 50 I would think.

Other 19-6 owners will confirm or deny.

RDS is in Perry Fla. about 50 miles east of Tallahassee.
I purchased from them on my latest tank replacement. Good folks.
You make no mention of your location so.......

My 170 tank is 25 gal - so I wouldn't doubt that his is also.

It's certainly possible - it was 72 that they started putting the tanks under the sole, if I remember right.
Can't remember if JimCTs '72 170 tank was under the console like my '71 170s or under the sole

Thanks for your replies.  We're going to throw a 25 gallon tank in her.  Reason being that with the ethanol in the fuel these days, I'll be emptying and filling the tank more frequently and hopefully give less opportunity for condensation to occur.  Another reason is that I'm hanging a 115 four stroke off the back which is a lot more fuel efficient than the original 2 strokes during time of production.

Pictures will be posted soon!
