Well I got the girl out of storage after the long Chicago winter. I thought I would share some pics.

Unbelievable....just today, Fitz spoke of your boat, and now to see the pics (the same day) is awesome....she's definitely the queen, thanks for sharing. All original, looks like she's been garage kept forever.

Betcha she's a head-turner on Lake Michigan.

She'll only go up in value, terrific find.

Thanks again for your post!

Thanks guys! I do get quite a few thumbs up when I have her out.

Gran, I think you're speaking of Polski2's boat that he bought this past winter. His boat is in pristine--show room condition. My has been in the family since my father bought it in 1977. I'm pretty sure both boats were bought at the same marina, Waukegan Marine.

Here's some pics of his:

Fitz and I just spoke, and he said that he had, as you stated, referenced Polski2's boat. Only difference, the other had the original Evinrude V4. Some positives, some negatives.

We agree that yours is a superlative example of the original 170.

Neat that they both came from the same dealership, in the same time period. Yours is ultra-pristine, and with the new Ficht, what more could you ask for.

I'm all about your classic....she's a beaut!

Thanks again.

Thanks Gran, She's got her bumps and bruises for sure. Nothing like Polski2's. I try and maintain her and she suits me well for the types of fishing I do. I'm really happy with the E-Tec. Great motor for this hull.

IF you think Polski2's is a ten, yours is a 9.8. If I had a boat that looked liked that, I'd be crooning. Don't sell yourself short....she's a beaut.

Plus....she cleans up nice.....

Stay with us,

How is that E-Tec working out for ya?

Have any major problems?  Does it sip gas?
I've been a JohnyRude guy forever so when I re-power, I'm probably leaning that way.

Oh and the boat looks good too. :thumright:

Gorgeous!  I've been wondering what my 175 would look like with a 90 E-Tec on her.  Looks as good as I expected.  I'm fighting tooth and nail with myself to *not* go and buy one :)  The 88SPL still runs great, but those E-Tecs look REALLY nice.

That E-Tec DOES look nice, to me is the perfect motor for the boat, and not really underpowered for a 19-6. Two cycle torque, great mileage, low maintenance, GREAT reviews.

Never owned an outboard that at some point had to be replaced. Sooner or later, they ALL blow up. Run the ol' 88 SPL 'till she's shot, give her a kiss on the cowl....and get the E-Tec..... :salut:

Capt. Bob

I've always been Johnny-Rude guy myself. I'm going on the 4th year with this E-Tec. I've had 0 issues with the motor since re-powering. I don't have a flow meter to monitor gas consumption but it's very good compared to my old Johnson V4. I'm VERY happy with this motor.
