Upholstry options in Tallahassee???
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:24:02 PM »
I'm new to ClassicAquasport.  Purchased my dream boat last week...'86 170 with original 70 hp Johnson which runs believe it or not.  Transom needs some attention.....a steal at $900.
My Dad used to be an AquaSport dealer and I've always wanted one of these.
Does anyone know of a good unholstry person in the Tallahassee area....Capt. Bob do you know??

Not really, since I have not had anything done up here but...

I can tell you of two places I have been to have my Bimini top repaired. These places also do cushions.

Tops of Tallahassee on Tharpe St. just east of Capital Circle NW.
They did a repair on my Bimini. High priced IMHO, slow and nothing to write home about. Repair failed at a later date.

Cover Time Upholstery in a little warehouse section off of Capital Circle NE across from the Federal "Big House".
They too only did a repair (2 actually) and we negotiated the cost up front and repairs done while I waited. Raggedy looking place with crap all over. Repairs still holding.

When I redo the cushions in my WAC, I'm going to give CTU a try.

Good luck.

PS... Hope your Dad is doing OK. He, like so many other long time small businesses have really taken it on the chin.
He was kind enough to give me the remaining Aqua catalogs he had in the shop. The Forum is always on the lookout for data about ALL Aquasports.

Thanks Capt. Bob,
My Dad has made it thru the recession so far, but it has been tough.  After Aquasport went belly up he took on Nautic Star and then Mako, neither of which sold as well as Aquasport.  He just got a shipment of Sundance skiffs in concentrating on the flats market and staying out of the offshore market for now, just trying to move some smaller motors to keep his Mercury franchise.
