LED Lighting
« on: January 08, 2010, 12:51:56 AM »
Not sure if this thread belongs here so if not just let me know
I am in the process of rewiring my 94 200 osprey and since I install residential LED lights I am within weeks of finishing an overhead LED bar and spreader lights for my t-top. These can be done in single color such as white or in my case white and red with a 3way switch. If I knew how to post a pic i would. Anyway I digress. I have a picture of the prototype and I can now make them in just about any configuration and any purpose including flounder gig lights or lobster bullynetting lights.

You'll need to use a photo hosting site like photobucket (free) to store your pics so start there and open an acct, upload your pics, size them to 640x480, save the resized ones as the originals and then follow the instructions here to post them in your topics here.

Bumpster,
Good to see you trying out a new business opportunity.  You have some good competition from a THT member, ScarabChris, in Hollywood.   Coastal Night Lights.

Might want to check him out.  I know him a bit.  Good dude.

He and I have had a few PM's back and forth. We are very different.I think the only product that overlaps will be the Spreader light.  Also my fixtures will have be capable of having two colors on a 3 way switch. Meaning if your anchored up you could have all white then when under power you could switch the white to red or blue or green whatever the 2nd color is that you wanted. when the order is placed and of course when I start production in the next couple of weeks.

What I used to like back in my Wellcraft days was the 12V flourescent under gunwale cockpit lights we used on the 35 Scarab Sport.  Really lit up the cockpit with out blinding you.  To have a long, narrow LED to perform the same function would be an excellent product...

There are so many lighting possibilities on boats.  The key is to get the same illumination, if not more, than the existing incandescent/xenon/halogen lighting.  Power draw is a no brainer.

But Chris's spreader light...that's pretty sweet!

Good luck to you! :thumleft:

They are done! waiting on the resin to cure. I made one 18" overhead and two 6" spreaders but due to a slight miscalculation I will only be using one spreader since the LED array i have and the types of LED's I used are putting out WAY more light than I thought. My overhead has white for fishing or anchored and red for running. as soon as it cures we will see current draw. pics coming tomorrow
