Connecting Deck to Stringers, need help...
« on: December 07, 2009, 08:32:14 PM »
Hey All,

I will begin to start the pattern for my new floor within the next couple weeks and get crackin on that. My question is, what is the best way to attach the floor to the stringers? Should I used structural fiberglass and crawl up underneath or should I use some sort of epoxy puddy, put that on top of the stringers and set the deck on top of that to make a "sandwich" effect? Any help or ideas would be great!

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,  assuming you have the trapazoid stingers all you need is epoxy resin mixed with wood flour filler to make up a putty.  Move in sections from one end to the other.  It will take lots of putty maybe 2 to 3 gallons.

MD

PS Check out my rebuild to see what I mean.

Maddog is correct - that is a good way to go.  You can also use 5200.
