98 Osprey 245 Center Con

Hey Bob

I will be the new owner of this boat on Monday. I'm use to the old 19 - 22 so sorry for the ignorance. Took it for a sea triial today and it is sweet. The floor is soft but it looks like it should be a nice winter project. 225 Johnson ocean runner and all the whistles. Couple questions: 1. The transom is composite right? 2. What is the oval in floor well type thing near the transom?  Looks like another live well but the pump is directly hooked to it. 3. How about the huge in floor storage in front of th console where the fresh water tank is?  Is that just wet storage?

I'm sure you built this boat and really appreciate the help.

Fabuck,
Excellent!  Now, on to your questions.  First, the "oval thing" just forward of your livewell is your fishbox.  The pump attached at the aft base is the "pump-out", although good luck with it!  Second, yes the transom is a 2-part pour foam composite that hardens to the consistency of concrete.  Third, the in-floor hatch just fwd of the console is what we called the "Haitian Hatch", as one could easily smuggle 7-8 "foriegners" into the US this way!  Should be relatively dry, although adding some gasketing to the top edge of the drain gutter will certainly help out keeping it dry.

Do me a BIG favor.  Open the fwd console seat, pull down the vinyl flap (if it's still there!), and take a couple of good, not close up pics of the helm wiring.  That will tell me if I built your boat or not.  I would love to see those pics! :D  :D

Fabuck,
Again, this is from the 97 catalog.
It knits well but you can use the link to better view the specs.
Also, SB4 can verify any major changes between model years.

Nice lookin" boat :thumleft:

CB,
The only "major" change was to extend the aft T-top legs down to the deck sole, instead of t/bolting them to the console, as seen in the brochure.  Lot's of stress cracking in that area.  Also, due to the value of the TM package, most 225/250s of the '98-'00 vintage got that package, so the T-top was glass and the bowrail was a big, stout, aluminum rail.

Liove her, and she saw us through many a rough day out in the gulf.  Wasn't real dry aft of the console, but the bilgee was ALWAYS dry!

Fabuck, get me the pics of the console wiring!  If you need help posting, many on here, including myself, will help!

It is a beautiful boat. I'll send some pics Monday. The ttop on my boat has a Quality ttop sticker and is black canvas. I can believe the floor is soft because there aren't many screw holes in the sole and the tank looks brand new. Only has a few hundred hours. A good buff and she will look new. Think I can just grind the entire edge near the gunnel meets the sole and save the diamond pattern, replace the core and fiberglass the top layer of glass and diamond pattern back down?  Btw I'll snap a picture of the flap for you.  So it's a pretty good boat huh?

Would that be Quality tops out of Tarpon Springs?  BTW, don't want a pic of the flap, want a pic of the wiring behind it... :D

We'll get a game plan together Saturday when you come see her and thank you for the help.  Yes, we do have the 20 and it will be going for sale soon when I get her al ready to sell.  Someone will get a sweet boat when they buy that thing.
