Can anyone identify this Aquasport?
« on: November 11, 2009, 04:51:35 PM »
A buddy of mine spotted this Aqua on a recent trip to Florida.  I've never seen one like this before, and the owner claimed there were only a handful like this model ever made..?  The owner said it was a 78' model.  Has anyone here seen an Aqua like this before??

Yup.  That's it.  Case closed.  Good looking restore though, I have to say.

You know, I saw the engine room louver vents, and said I bet she was an I/O, maybe inboard at one time...

Not many open 240's around. Most of the hulls were factory-dressed as FF's and of the 240's, they seem to be mostly O/B.

Don't know if the vents necessarily mean she was once I/O. I recall seeing somewhere other 240 O/B's with them.  The louvers on my 240 I/O are set up as a passive bilge ventilation system.  My fwd. cuddy vents tie to dryer hoses which drop down into the bilge space.  Plan is the fwd. louvers, which have the "scoops" facing fwd., draw air in and theoretically vent out thru the stern louvers.  At the time the boats were built I think you were allowed a passive bilge vent in lieu of a blower.  My engine box has dedicated louvers for engine air; whether original or not I haven't a clue.
