less than 5min later is when she died and wouldnt come back.
still not bad for a 35 year old motor.

Have you given up on her?  If so, understandable, after 35 years.  Can't ask for much more than that!

Did you perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death?   :silent:

Just initially....she may have suffered a crushed upper cranial pancakascorption enscamotamy.

Or something close to that.

Not a brain surgeon, but did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

going in the old girl later in the week. not giving up on her just yet she had a lot to give and i think it is something minor.
i switched batteries and she came back to life long enough to run down the last canal before the launch and get on the trailer, but still running very last leggish. my guy is going to check it out and let me know if i need to pull the plug or if she just needs some geritol. maybe a viagra in the tank(havent figured out if its a boy or girl yet) might make him run harder.lol

ok to quote forest gump "stupid is as stupid does". went out to look at the boat, checked all the connections, cleaned all the fittings, and CHECKED THE DAMM FUEL FILTER. can anyone guess what the problem was. after telling my wife i dont need 9k for a new motor and what the problem , then i sat down and realized the new fuel filter has been my problem all along. went with a cheap inline filter instead of paying the extra 10 bucks and doing it right. had to order the good filter. which may have been why i went with the cheap one to start.

Racor, my friend, with the blue tinted bowl...Racor...it's a mantra, but they work!

Here's a start.

http://www.parker.com/portal/site/PARKE ... ky=FILTERS

Racor makes models specific to your engine manufacturer (OMC) so shop around. This is the type of filter you want between your tank and engine. You still can have a small inline under the cowling if you like, just a belt/suspenders thing but...
I always ran one on the 200 Rude and the 200 Yamaha has a built in one you can't bypass.

Still with fuel the way it is, it's not if but when.
When for you was last time out. :(

While you got your wallet out, purchase a couple of extra (at least one) filter cartridges. Why?
Well if you have ran pre-ethanol fuel through your system and are now forced to use E-10, You'll have a lot of crud being cleansed from the system. Theoretically, it should clean itself out   but in the mean time, the filter is your main line of defense. Carry an extra on board.

In my CCP, which ran both ethanol and non-ethanol fuel, I would change the filter cartridge twice a season or when I started noticing debris in the bowl.
I've been lucky in that I have yet (since switching strictly to E-10) seen "water" in the bowl. When that happens with E-10, your fuel has gone from bad to worst and hopefully you have an alternative source to bring you home (somewhat unlikely). Check that bowl regularly and hope you catch it in the front yard and not on the Gulf.

Good luck.
