Just picked up this boat, looking for some suggestions on fixing some things.
First of all the rear portion of the deck, basically from the console back, needs to be replaced. The top skin is good but the core is shot. I'm thinking of cutting the perimeter and lifting the top skin off in one piece to be re-used on top of the new deck, sound do-able?

And this boat has no storage under the deck other than the box in the very front. I'm going to at least add an insulated fish box in the back 1/3 of the boat, and will try to get a gas tank that fits under the deck. Anyone ever do that with this model or should I leave the tank under the console? It'd be nice to free up some storage space in the console and get the tank out of there.

Last- the front raised portion of the deck is still solid but it has 'sunk' down, looks like the only thing holding it up was the storage box but whatever was supporting that from underneath has gone away, now the box won't drain properly and the deck isn't exactly flat anymore. Any suggestions on fixing that without ripping the entire front deck out?

My 1973 19-6 has the gas tank between the stringers underneath the consule. It would be fairly easy if the deck has an access insert. About a fish box in the rear? Well there isn't a lot of room in the rear third of the hull. I guess you could try to fit one behind the fuel cell depending on the volume you choose. With the sound of the front deck, it sounds like she's ready for the deed. Take the deck off and make her right again.

Dave is right - you can easily put a tank under the floor up front.  The 19'1 is a very similar hull to the 222 - so check out my rebuild (or others) and you will see the tank placement.

I would avoid a fishbox in the rear - because it will impede your bilge access and drainage.  I would recommend either up in front of the fuel cell, or possible build one under your raised casting platform.

After seeing a few dismantled pics of the same boat I can see what you mean about the rear fish box not really enough depth to make it useable.  So looks like I'll possibly be putting some storage towards the front of the boat.  There is a single large box under the casting deck that'll stay, and the console is mounted further forward than most, it actually intrudes into the casting deck about 8 inches and has a fairly new 28 gal. tank in the console, looks like that's gonna stay too.  Won't know till I get the rear deck off but I'm leaning towards putting a storage box under the deck, will probably end up under the console & seat area.
The way the boat is setup now there's no access at all under the deck not even for a bilge pump, that's gonna change too.
Pics soon, can't get on photobucket from this computer.

Anyone have fuel burn info on a 19?
