what to replace foam with?

I know this is talked about alot. I'm redoing my 222ccp and next step is wet foam tear out. Anyone know of something better then foam or a foam that will not hold water.....ever. I was told ping pong balls but have never seen it done and have no idea where to buy a million ping pong balls!!! Ping pong balls and foam might be good? I just know that if it was not for the foam that even if the boat was to get tottally submerged...God forbid! that it could dry out and never need to be torn into again. One misshap with foam and it gets wet there is no way to get it dry. Iv'e been told as well to leave it out? Kinda scary besides I beleive it does alot for sound and rigidy. There has to be a better way?

Most of the newer pourable foams are closed cell. The stuff they used in our boats was open cell. Closed cell = little or no water intrusion.

Ditto.  This foam http://boatbuildercentral.com/products.php?cat=56 is Coast Guard approved.  Not only does not absorb water but resists gas and oil.  I put it in my rebuild and am very pleased with it.
