Watertite simple question
«
on:

Hi Guys,
I have a 170 that i need to do a couple quick patches on the hull. Will Watertite epoxy filler bond well to the original polyester? I get a little confused about the back and forth.
Thanks,
Alex

Haven't used it myself but most any epoxy is usually far superior over polyester rather than polyester itself.

Epoxy will always bond well to polyester, polyester will almost never bond well to epoxy. Note I said "almost".
Watertite rocks, I recommend it.

Its because of the foam blank, not the polyester resin itself. Surfboard foam blanks are made from either EPS or polyurethane foam. This in turn determines the sort of resin that will be used in making the surfboard. Epoxy surfboards have EPS cores. Polyurethane blanks are compatible with polyester resins and traditional fiberglass surfboards.
