Think Before You Shrink - Stop the Madness
« on: June 14, 2009, 05:42:41 PM »
I visited the local landfill/recycle center with my son's fifth grade class recently.  It was an eye-opening experience to see the mountain, and I mean mountain, of shrink wrap from local boatyards and owners.  I haven't shrink-wrapped yet and I vow not to do it.

I am having a diffficult time finding a semi-custom boat cover or a made-to-fit-an-aquasport-CCP200 custom cover without spending $400-$1,000.  Any leads?  Did AS sell covers with their boats or was that a dealer-make-it option at the time you bought 'em new?

Also, I'd like to know the choice of members... cover or shrink wrap... and hear pros and cons.  Join in the conversation if you'd like!

I ended up with this one for mine, it works good, but it a little big.  would work better if i had got the next size down.  Lightweight but heavyweight.  Let me know if you decide to go with this one before you order it.

i bought a good old 25mil heavyweight silver tarp... not the blue thin one... the thick one. I laid it on the boat and cut off all the excess around the edges... basically 2 feet down from the rub rail. Then I rolled the edge a time or two and bought a gromit kit and installed brass grommits where I needed them. it held up well all winter long. Cost me about $80 in total. I agree that a more custom fit is nicer looking, but I saved at least $50.
