High Five prop

I just pick up a High Five prop off of Ebay (13.5x17).   :santa:   I currently have a 14.5x18 four blade and about 500rpm to spare.  I'll let ya know how it works for my setup.

Let me know how you like it.  I put a PowerTech on mine and it is awesome.  I can come onto plane fully jacked up (ventilating, but nonetheless).  It bites well - seems to hold better than some other props I have seen on 222s.

I've been very happy with the HighFive on my CCP - I'm using a 19 pitch with my 200 Merc, turning 5500 and 43 MPH top end...

So I installed the prop but there is much more z axis movement on the shaft than the other prop. Do i need to add some washers behind the shaft bolt?

You will need to get a thrust washer for it, should be able to get one from a prop shop no problem.

After going out and buying a thrust washer, I find that there is already one on the prop shaft.
So with the thrust washer installed, there is still about 1/4 inch play in the prop mounting and it's because the splines on the shaft extend 1/4 inch beyond the face of the prop hub. When I tighten down the prop nut, it hits the slines before it hits the hub face.

Would a simple washer behind the prop nut be a resonable solution or is that just a bandaid for another problem?

You need a special thrust washer for that prop, my aluminum stock prop had a different washer than my aftermarket stainless.

I finally put some numbers together.

1973, 22-2 Aquasport, with a 2003 175 Optimax on a Portabracket. T-Top installed.

On flat calm day, trim tabs up, 3/4 tank of gas (70 gallon tank), just me (~200lbs) in the boat with the high five prop (13.5"x17).

Once on plane, Portabracket adjusted up for minimal drag.

WOT - 42.2mph on GPS at 5800rpm, 18.4gph
35mph @ 4800rpm, 9.2gph
30mph @ 4300rpm, 7.1gph
28.3mph @ 4000mph, 6.26gph
26mph @3800rpm, 5.56gph

Time to plane, ~4 sec.

That's 4.7 miles per gallon at 26 MPH.  Pretty good!  My old 2 stroke Black Max is about 3.2 MPG at that speed.  Aquasports seem to optimize (OK - Mercury pun there!) around 25-26 miles per hour.    

Interesting your 222 has almost identical WOT numbers as my CCP, 18GPH and about 43MPH - probably just hull drag...
